DES II

  It's a go.

  distributed.net will be accepting the RSA DES II Challenge. We are very much
  on top of it, and clients will be ready and tested before 9:00 AM (PST) on
  January 12th, 1998 when the contest starts. New clients will be enhanced
  with a dual 'core' and on Jan 12th we'll start sending out DES data instead
  of RC5-64 data. Several v3 features will also be tested out in the hybrid
  clients to see how they will perform. We are also working on getting the
  support of the SOLNet coordinator and the DESCHALL Guru as well.

  If we can get the full support of the distributed.net community, we should
  be able to beat DES again and show just how weak DES really is in 1998
  compared to the phenomenal computing power of distributed.net

  available.
