The fact is, any decrease in the life of the CPU is inconsequential. So the
CPU may only last 5 years. Big deal. after 5 years, it won't really matter if
your 550Mhz CPU is still around, because 4Ghz models will be everywhere.

By that time, a used Celeron 500 can probably be had for around $10, so no
matter.
