Pause when the load average goes above 81, and unpause at 79. But this 
doesn't solve the problem. The heat given out by a processor is 
proportional to the clock speed (ish), so setting it to 133 MHz would 
have the same effect, if not more (idle CPUs don't take that much less 
power, AFAIK).

Alternatively, invest in a new heatsink or a better fan (or both), or 
thermal compound or whatever. Or you can try taking the case off. 
Computers should be built to handle full load for months on end, in a 
warmish climate. If you just limit the CPU usage, when something *does* 
take up all the CPU time, it'll just overheat.
