Ideas for ways to do away with the crypto most welcome. :)

Use a volunteer cooperative non-profit form, with winner take
all format. Require verified registration for participation,
such as an verified ssl certificate. Blacklist anyone that cheats
by forging results. Then there is no incentive to bypass DNet or
need for crypto other than accepting signed SLL messages for
results.

Rearchitect dnet server to be fully distributed too, so all that
remains of a formal distributed.net domain is a DNS service which
redirects traffic to a core group of voluteer administrator home
machines running a common distributed database.

Give at most one time limited assignment block per participant to
start. They can have two new assignments for each completed block,
up to the limit they can complete blocks and not expire time
limits.

Focus on social perks for participation rewards, including some
donated prizes from time to time ... probably from RSA to keep
this alive, since they are the only beneficaries of wasting this
much of out planets energy reserves to keep machines powered up
that should be off, or recycled.
