I sent a couple of HUP signals and always got a reponse like:

[01/22/98 21:20:57 GMT] Bovine RC5 Personal Proxy for UNIX (Build 275)
[01/22/98 21:20:57 GMT] For details, see http://rc5.distributed.net/
[01/22/98 21:20:57 GMT] 32 max connections
[01/22/98 21:20:57 GMT] ready=2060/2000, done=0 for rc5
[01/22/98 21:20:57 GMT] ready=388/1000, done=657 for desII
[01/22/98 21:20:57 GMT] Listener added to ip 0.0.0.0 port 2064
[01/22/98 21:20:57 GMT] rc564 r=2060/2000, d=0/1900, des r=388/1000,
d=657/900
[01/22/98 21:20:57 GMT] 0d 0:00:00, 0.0 rc5 Mkeys/sec 0.0 des Mkeys/sec
[01/22/98 21:20:57 GMT] Status: Slot 0 LISTENING
[01/22/98 21:20:57 GMT] Main proxy serving loop has begun
[01/22/98 21:21:11 GMT] Configuration file (./rc5desproxyper.ini)
reloaded!
[01/22/98 21:21:11 GMT] *Flush*  Ignoring flush/fetch request.
select: Interrupted system call
[01/22/98 21:21:28 GMT] rc564 r=2060/2000, d=0/1900, des r=388/1000,
d=657/900
[01/22/98 21:21:28 GMT] 0d 0:00:31, 0.0 rc5 Mkeys/sec 0.0 des Mkeys/sec
[01/22/98 21:21:28 GMT] Status: Slot 0 LISTENING

ist appears to me that the reason is because i do not have any rc5 keys
in the output buffer. apparantly the proxy doesn't want to just flush
the DES keys. to verify this, i am just submitting some rc5 blocks
to my proxy and then i will HUP it again:

[01/22/98 21:29:30 GMT] rc564 r=1842/2000, d=216/1900, des r=388/1000,
d=657/900
[01/22/98 21:29:30 GMT] 0d 0:08:33, 113.0 rc5 Mkeys/sec 0.0 des
Mkeys/sec
[01/22/98 21:29:30 GMT] Status: Slot 0 LISTENING
[01/22/98 21:29:30 GMT] Flushing out-buff to disk.

note: i now have both, rc5 and des keys in the output buffers, now lets
HUP the proxy again:

[01/22/98 21:31:58 GMT] Server acknowledged data transmittal
[01/22/98 21:31:58 GMT] Transmitting completed block to server
[01/22/98 21:31:58 GMT] Transmitting completed block to server
[01/22/98 21:31:58 GMT] Transmitting completed block to server

and here we go, it accepted the signal and is flush-/fetching both
buffers.
