[rc5] Core dumps with 2.002

I've had two core dumps on PPro 200 linux machines running 2.002.  I can
supply cores if need be.  Of interest is the tail end of the log files:

I should also mention that, in the second case, I started the client with
buff-in.rc5 and buff-out.rc5 files left over from running a v2.000 client.
