Then hows this.

Old Client: One whose version is < 2.7006.

Given the chart:

792706 Total duplicates

Version #       Dupes   %
...
7006            24444   3%
7005            1193    0%
7004            71      0%
7003            909     0%
7002            295007  37%
7001            19991   2%
6404            22238   2%
6403            58248   7%
6402            21384   2%
6401            65772   8%
                -----   ---
		509257	64% (I changed the definition of Old Client)

Now, I'll take that chart, fold it into blocks submitted 04/07
grouped by client (there will be discrepancies because block count is

792706 Total duplicates

4742407 Total blocks submitted

(16% of all blocks submitted on 04/07 were duplicates)

Version #       Dupes   %of Dupes	Blocks	%Tot	%Dupe
...
7006            24444   3%		283040	6%	9%
7005            1193    0%		30315	1%	4%
7004            71      0%		4411	0%	2%
7003            909     0%		3564	0%	26%
7002            295007  37%		63399	1%	465%
7001            19991   2%		197923	4%	10%
6404            22238   2%		245918	5%	9%
6403            58248   7%		309090	7%	19%
6402            21384   2%		220332	5%	10%
6401            65772   8%		497926	11%	13%
		-----	---		------  ---
		509257  64%		1855918 39%
Min=1%	(Old: 2%)
Max=465% (New: 27%)
Mean=31.5%  (W/O outliers its: 11.35%) (old:56.7) (new:10.6%)
Median= 9%  (Old:10%) (new:8%)
Mode = 8.5% (Old: 9.5%) (New:8.5%)
Standard Deviation is 94.9 (w/o outliers its: 7.2) (Old: 136.3) (New: 7.8)
Standard Error is 20.2     (w/o 1.6) (Old: 43.1) (New: 2.3)
Chi Squared is 2760.1      (18.0) (88.0) (11.3)

Old clients account for 39% of all blocks submitted. With the dupes,
that's 43%. The chance that any old client is doing a duplicate block is
22%.

Conversely:
New Clients account for 61% of all blocks submitted. With dupes it is
57%. The chance a new client is doing a dupe block is 9%.

Speed for the day 04/07 was 14,734,145,666 keys/sec. Dupes sucked
2,462,851,812 keys/sec from that. If there were 0 dupes, and all dupes
are checked we could have done 17,196,997,478 keys/sec on 04/07. This
means d.net runs at about 85% of optimum speed.

Now, that you've read this far, and hopefully drawn your own
conclusions, but I'll state mine and hopefully they mesh a bit...

Upgrade your clients. This shouldn't be a "Well, these stats don't mean
anything to me, so I'm not going to do anything" type of deal. This is a
"I need to have a working correct client whose core works, buffers are
more stable, and the client reports back valid data."

I'll also take this time to remind you: v2.600x buffers have problems
being submitted on v2.7 clients. In fact, that's one of the main reasons
to get upgraded to the New Clients. There were buffer problems with
submitting one versions buffers with another. There is also a known bug
with the 2.7002 client (as you can see with the list above).

So, do yourself a favour, your team, me, distributed.net, and all of
society a favour and keep your clients upgraded.
