RC1 == Release Candidate 1. Release candidates are a step closer to the
final version, after beta versions. By naming it a "release candidate"
Microsoft is basically saying, 'This version is feature-complete, and free
of known bugs; thus, it is a candidate for release'.

Needless to say, the first few release candidates do still have bugs in
them ;).
