I'm pretty sure it's pronounced with a short "i" sound, as in "I live in
south africa"
 
Or as in "this stray packet has just 5 network hops left to live before I
throw it into /dev/null"

Just a general Networking question.  How do you pronounce Time to Live.
 
is it Live as in "I live in South Africa" or is it Live as in
"There are live animals in the zoo"
