This is not quite true.  The MP's are not Thunderbirds.  They are Palaminos.  
They utilize data prefetch, support SSE and powernow and have several other 
improvements, including lower power consumption at a given clock rate.  
Generally, clock for clock, the Palamino significantly outperforms the T-bird.
