Much like the famous Bill Gates quote about 640k of RAM, which was never
actually said, this sounds like a hoax.
I say that, because 20 years ago, there were many hundred IBM mainframes
in use around the world. IBM just celebrated the 39 anniversary of the
IBM S/360 (http://www-1.ibm.com/ibm/history/)
